As a family-owned business, we feel committed to the future generations. Opus 16 strives to leave a minimal ecological footprint. Since the opening in 2018 our goal has been to encourage our staff, suppliers, and guests to help contribute to a greener world.

We work systematically with reducing our food waste, water usage, chemicals, and energy use. Opus 16 also emphasize the use of local suppliers.

A la carte breakfast
As a guest you will notice we serve our breakfast a la carte. We hope you enjoy it!
Many of the products are from local suppliers. Most of the bread from an ecological, local bakery, the eggs from a local farm in Fana and the bacon from a local meet farm in Bergen.  After changing from the buffet solution, we reduced our food waste with more than 50%.

All the waste at Opus 16 is being sorted and recycled. We urge you to help use the bins in your hotel room.

Use of towels
If you want us to change your towels during your stay, leave them on the floor and the staff will provide clean towels. Your contribution by hanging up used towels are greatly appreciated.

Are you staying two nights or more?
For those of you that want to go that extra mile and contribute more than expected, you can leave the “do not make up my room” sign on the outside of your door and we will reward you a free glass of aperitif in our lobby/bar. The staff will leave a voucher in your room after noticing the sign.

Your contribution to the environment is less use of cleaning liquids (chemicals) mops and cloths, in addition to reducing water and energy usage.

The public transport to/from the airport runs frequently and seamless. The airport bus takes 20 minutes and leaves 3 minutes’ walk from Opus 16. If you have time, the light rail is comfortable, inexpensive and gives you a great sightseeing of Bergen and its surroundings to and from the airport. The end station is 3 blocks a way from our main entrance.

We hope you enjoy your stay with us and greatly appreciate your contribution to a minimal ecological footprint.
